Why do I edit?

- Because I like to, and love to photoshop.

Why do I think it’s ok to edit?

- That’s simple fanart=art movies= art tv shows =art video games =art, all of these are created by people, sometimes lots people and it takes a lot of effort to create them. Now tell me why you think fanart is unacceptable to edit but everything else is? I don’t think that’s right I think if you’re going to say one is wrong , than everything is wrong. If you don’t care about being fair however, then fine keep your opinion but I won’t listen to it because seriously art is art.

“But fanart doesn’t get as much exposure so noone will no what it is but official art does”

Um ok? What does that have to do with whether it’s right to edit it? I never claim to draw it and as for someone no knowing the fanart isn’t mine because of exposure that’s what the link to the original is for.

Do you accuse a gif maker that puts their watermark on their gif of being a thief of whatever their gifing? What about a graphic maker that watermarks do you accuse them of stealing the video game their making a graphic of? No you don’t and this is the same thing they are taking credit for the work done to the video game scene or picture and I’m doing the same. I’m not taking credit for the hard work the artist put into drawing the picture I respect that work. I’m taking credit for the photoshop work done to it by ME .

“do you think editing makes it prettier?”

NO NO NO. I never think that any editing I do to a picture is going to make it prettier or better in any way I’m just putting my take on a picture just like when people put their take on any other kind of art when they edit or gif it.

I never said that, I think its ok for the reasons listed above.

this post got a lot of attention bringing a lot of people to my blog calling me names, insulting me, some were nice about it I’m not going to lie but I’m tired of repeating my argument

Lastly what I think about copyright.

On tumblr it says everything shouldn’t be posted without copyright holder permission well I’m pretty sure that’s almost everything so if you’re gonna get on me about fanart copyright [which I don’t think it is copyrighted beccause the artists don’t own the characters their using] than to be fair you need to look at your own  blog and all the “copyright infringement” on there. Now of course if you don’t care about being fair.

By the way if you insult me you’re just going to get sent here so don’t bother.

Plus insulting someone doesn’t really get your point across it just makes you sound like a dipshit.

Then that just makes you kinda sad.

Yes i know the difference between official and fan art is that one is personal one is not

but I don’t think that changes anything they put it on the internet and made it public.

If you’re going to yell at me about editing fanart you need to yell at al of tumblr for editing everything else

its the same thing
